Moved in + open. Enjoying the scene. The store is getting a great response and we are loving the opportunity to connect with our people. With retail in the front and our Bespoke Gentleman's Club in the back; it's a world of Shag that will bring the bounce back into your step. Be a man here - it's ok. Would love to give you a tour of our new additions to the GreenShag family. Including suits, pants, ties. Yum.
Almost open. Spent the day yesterday setting up. It's fun. There is always a scene there. People looking in our windows - peering in - trying to see what is going on - the woman that talks to our MANnequins. It's vibrant. I am so happy we found the right location - because you know what they say...
Shock. This is usually how most trends start. It's the shock value. With Spring 08, it is with great shock that we are seeing the return of the moustache. Appearing to the despair of many a style-abiding mano the 'stache' is back. We love it. For so long we only saw it grace the faces of action heroes, Bollywood heart-throbs and Ron Jeremy types we think the moustache's time has come. Not only that but It's time to celebrate hair in every way. Don't hide your chest hair...dare to undo that extra button and show it. Chest hair and moustaches... come on - we dare you.
The following is a little piece that one of our favourite clients emailed us. It inspired us. We want to share it with you...
“GreenShag,I often think about your handle, I don’t know why, but therein lays the power of branding… It conjures in me strong images, as green is my favourite hue -the mixture of blue and yellow in the spectrum and how cool it was to make green when you were a kid… The connection with the sea, parks and open public areas, rich foliage, the coming of summer on the trees… Perhaps it’s the global environmental take, recycling and social responsibility. Quite possibly it’s that raw, unripe aspect, of not being aged, spoiled or processed… or fresh as in a green salad, getting your veggies. Conceivably green ain’t good, as in green meat, being green with envy, nauseated or sickly of appearance – I have those days. But green is good because green is GO when I am in my car, and green is what I spend on old cars and that makes me happy. And then you go and put Shag on the end of Green, two words that have no business being together… Are you talking about leafy tobacco, the small cormorant off European coasts or the lively dance step ofthe 30’s? Either way you look at it, it’s still that vulgar British slang for you know what…

My favourite thing is when people say 'I will never wear that'. Just the words themselves pretty much guarantee that the item in question will come back into fashion. Everything comes around. Pleats are the next thing on the agenda. It's the silhouette that is changing. Think fitted, tailored tops with a looser bottom. The vintage golf look of days gone by (circa 1930's to 50's). Men on the greens would wear a fitted golf shirt with a pleated pant that was longer in the rise than the pleats we remember from the eighties. The first glimpse of these changes in fashion comes through venues that we wouldn't expect. In the pleat case, it's the new basketball uniforms designed by Nike. They kept the baggy shorts that the players love so much but replaced the tops with a more form fitting version. Way to go Nike, but for the girls, when are the fitted shorts coming back? We love a little leg and to see a nice bum...
